Harold Ray Cavett, resident of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his home. He was 72. Harold was born April 30, 1936 in Ponca City, the son of Howard B. Cavett and Muriel Odum Cavett. He was a 1954 graduate of Ponca City High School. He entered the United States Navy on July 2, 1954 and served a tour of duty in the Philippines as a radio communications specialist. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 2, 1958. Harold then completed course work at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa and attended the University of Oklahoma, majoring in business administration. Harold was employed through the years as a corporate financial manager, working throughout the United States before retiring from the Hesston Corporation. Harold was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister. His family and his church were his life but he was also an avid Boomer Sooner fan. He is survived by one son, Michael Cavett and wife, Elyse, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one daughter, Krista Britt and husband, Douglas Britt Jr., Morrisville, North Carolina; two brothers, David Comer and wife, Cindy, Ponca City, and Wesley F. Comer and wife, Ann, Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Carolyn McCune and husband, Jim, Decatur, Alabama, and Annie Streagle and husband, Merle, of Rhode Island; three grandchildren, Ty David McCoy, Megan Cavett and Matthew Cavett; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Comer. Casket bearers will be Michael Cavett, David Comer, Douglas Britt Jr., Matthew Cavett, Ty McCoy and Merle Streagle. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church, 707 East Ponca, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
