Glenda Myrlene Hein, longtime resident of Blackwell and Ponca City, passed on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Fairfax Hospital. She was 78. Glenda was born December 23, 1930 in the country between Blackwell and Ponca City near Highway 11. She was the only child of Ralph Loren Awalt and Zelma Pearl Shields Awalt. She attended the Blackwell and Ponca City Schools. She was married to Clarence John Hein on June 2, 1951 at Blackwell. In earlier years Glenda was known as a very hard working farm woman, always helping in providing for her children. She also had been employed with Milligan Drug in Blackwell, as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell and had worked at the Kress Store in Ponca City. She was a member of the Woodlands Christian Church. Her enjoyments were raising her family, her dogs, playing bingo at the nursing home, her stuffed animals she had won and visiting with others. She is survived by her husband, Clarence; three children, Myrlene Kay Stokesberry and husband, Philip; Joseph John Hein and wife, Val; and Denis Lee Hein and wife, Nancy; four grandchildren, Scott Hisey, Michael Hein, Krystal Hein and Joe Wayne Hein; four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Casket bearers will be Scott Hisey, Michael Hein, Rick Buellesfeld, Clifford Buellesfeld, Krystal Hein, Larry Shields and Bill Hein. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77054.
