George Murphy Childs II, member of the OtoeMissouria Indian Tribe and resident of Red Rock, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012. He was 36 years of age.

George was born December 14, 1975 in Ponca City, the son of Roy and Jolavon Butler Childs. He was a graduate of the Sequoyah Indian School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He had been employed as a carpenter in construction work. His enjoyments included playing with his nieces and nephews, fishing, and his dog, Blue.

He is survived by his parents, Roy and Jolavon Childs of Red Rock two brothers, Willie Childs of Ponca City and Stacy Childs of Red Rock several nieces and nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Childs on September 27, 2009 his paternal grandparents, George and Virginia Childs and maternal grandparents Bennie and Wilhomina Butler.

Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the OtoeMissouria Cultural Center near Red Rock. A noon meal will be served on Monday, April 16th at the Cultural Center followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Native American Church preside over the service. Burial will follow in the OtoeMissouria Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Willie Childs, Stacy Childs, Thompson Hornett, Blain Hall, James HallZotigh and Shane Turner. Honorary casket bearers will be Vernon Tohee, Leon Tohee and Nolan Grant.
