Freeman Arkeketa Jr., former Ponca City resident, died January 3, 2013 in Tulsa.
Freeman was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Freeman Arkeketa and Myrtle Roy Arkeketa. He attended school at Chilocco. After leaving school he married and moved to Tulsa where he resided until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Ed and Beulah Roy and Charles and Ella Arkeketa brothers, Tony Arkeketa, Freddie Arkeketa sisters, Melissa Cornell and Peggy Arkeketa. He is survived by a sister, Marcella Morgan aunts, Charlene Lieb and Rosetta LeClair, all of Ponca City numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer services will be held Wednesday evening, January 09, 2013 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. A traditional noon feast will be served on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Clifford Springwater will be the presiding minister. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Antoine Tony Delodge, Baptiste Delodge, Houston Primeaux, Scott Lieb, Garland Arkeketa and Spencer Arkeketa. Honorary casket bearers will be Alfred Arkeketa, Bennett Arkeketa, William Daughman, Eddy Arkeketa, Bobby Jo Howe, Stuart Lieb and Charles Arkeketa.
