Francis Walkingsky

Francis Walkingsky, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday morning, May 4, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 56.

Francis was born November 5, 1953 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Clifford Walkingsky Sr. and Mollie Mae Kent Walkingsky and was of the Giveswater decent. He received his education in the Ponca City Schools, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1972. He was married to Mary Stinnett on June 17, 1972 in Ponca City.

Francis was employed throughout his years as a foundry worker and most recently as a certified security guard. He was a member of the Ponca Indian Methodist Church and a former member of the Native American Church of Ponca. His main enjoyment was being with his grandkids, watching movies, attending movies, barbecuing, attending powwows, going to the casinos and mowing the grass at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home his mother, Mollie Walkingsky of Ponca City two daughters, Loretta Hawzipta and Nicole Blanchard, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma one brother, Clifford Walkingsky Jr. and one sister, Sylvia Walkingsky Davis, both of Ponca City 21 grandchildren and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Walkingsky Sr. one daughter, Janell Walkingsky one brother, Alfred Walkingsky three sisters, Edith Ann Walkingsky Brown, Alfredia Annette Walkingsky LeClair and Clourine Walkingsky Brown.

Prayer services will be held both Wednesday and Thursday evening at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church. A traditional noon meal will be served on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Bro. Jimmy White will preside over the service. Burial will be in the Ponca Indian Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Francis Brown, Clifford Blanchard, Kenneth Brown Jr., Clifton LeClair, Clifford Charles LeClair and Owen Hawzipta. Honorary casket bearers will be Kenny Kemble, Jason Williams, Clifford Walkingsky Jr., Asa Davis Jr., Dan Jones, Travis Blanchard, Odell Overland and Nick Warrior.
