Fenton Morrison passed away Monday morning, September 18, 2017 at Via Christi. He was 91 years of age.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 Friday, September 22 at the 100F Cemetery of Ponca City. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday September 22 at the Frist Christian Church, 201 North 5th Street with Rev. Larry Metzger presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Fenton was born December 13, 1925 at Cleveland, Oklahoma, the son of Ray Andrew Morrison and Anice (Birchett) Morrison.
In 1943 Fenton left in November of his senior year to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He spent the next 3 years in Saipan as a member of the 20th Air Force, 498th Bombardment. Fenton returned to Cleveland, Oklahoma after the war to complete his senior year and graduate with the class of 1947.
Fenton was united in marriage to Jo Ellen House on April 3, 1947 in Cleveland. The couple made their first home in Cleveland. Moving to Ponca City in 1948 when he began his 39-year career with Conoco's Exploration department within Geophysical Section.
Outside of his family, in his early years Fenton participated in competitive badminton leagues and tournaments. He spent several years coaching his son's football and baseball teams. In addition, he was a photographer that loved nothing more than taking his family on road trips throughout the U.S. After retirement Fenton enjoyed being active in golf with his friends. Fenton served as elder during his years as a member of the First Christian Church.
Fenton was a kind, loving, generous, humble man who treasured spending time with his family. He is survived by his children Linda Nickles and husband, Don of McLean, Virginia, Steve Morrison of Frisco, Texas and Teresa Crosson and husband, Mike of Houston, Texas; sister Mary Ann Harris of Sedalia, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Don Nickles and wife, Jeanne, Jenny Rossiter and husband, Paul, Kim Barry and husband, Andrew, Robyn Hensley and husband, David, Kristin Sinclair, and husband, Bill, Kyle Morrison, Brian Crosson and wife, Kelly, Casey VanHoesen and husband, Chad, Wes Crosson and wife, T.J.; 22 great grandchildren, Lauren, Julianne, Amanda. Nick, Ben, Ella, Drew, Erin, Alexa, Anna, Norah, Vivian, Everett, Zachary, Jacob, Brooklynn, Adalynn Callie Jo, Emma, Avah, Michael, and Landon. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jo Ellen and his parents.
Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren.
