Eva Ione Mehojah, resident of Kaw City, passed away Saturday evening, November 20, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 93.
Eva was born April 12, 1917 at Cooties Bluff, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leonard Cassity and Mae Varner Cassity. During Evas school days she was very active in basketball and softball. She was married to Jesse Mehojah on October 12, 1937 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma with the couple establishing their first home at Washunga. Eva was employed for several years in the food service department of the Southwind Casino. Her family meant everything to her and she enjoyed being surrounded by them as often as possible.
She is survived by her eight children, Ernest Mehojah, Ponca City, Willa Long, Kaw City, Jesse Mehojah, Ponca City, Marilyn York, Kaw City, twins Ronald of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Donald, of Kaw City, Edwin Mehojah, Kaw City and Mike Mehojah of Enid, Oklahoma two sisters, Mary Twinn and Lela Cortes two brothers, Jimmy Cassity and Joe Cassity 17 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Jesse, on December 29, 1995 one son Tommy four siblings, Billie LaRue, Pat Dickens, Molly Cassity and Mickey Cassity.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Washunga Community Building. Burial will follow in the Washunga Cemetery at Newkirk. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be her six sons, Ernest Mehojah, Jesse Mehojah, Ronald Mehojah, Donald Mehojah, Edwin Mehojah and Mike Mehojah. Honorary casket bearers will be Terry Estes and Justin Mehojah.
