Elizabeth V. Blueback Goodman, longtime Marland resident, passed Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Integris Blackwell Regional Hospital. She was 73 years of age.

Elizabeth was born December 1, 1939 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Garry Blueback and Martha Fireshaker Blueback. She was a member of the Ponca Tribe Nikapasna Clan.
She attended Haskell Institute High School. She was a member of the Haskell band where she played several instruments and also sang in the glee club. She furthered her education 2 more years at Haskell Junior College. She was married to Harold Goodman on April 20, 1962.

In earlier years she was a special education assistant and substitute teacher at the Marland School. She was a former dispatcher for the Ponca Tribal Police Department and longtime waitress at Jeans Lasso Restaurant.

Her enjoyments included OU football and basketball, sewing, cooking, quilting, playing bingo, old country music and dancing. Elizabeth was a very creative person and earned an interior designer certificate. She enjoyed life, always ready to receive family and friends, always helping others, putting others first, and living by the Golden Rule. She was a charter member of Tribal Blue Bird Association and a member of the Ponca Indian Nazarene Church. She was also a noted historian for her family.

She is survived by her four children, Felicia Hopkins and husband Donnie, of Rangely, Colorado, Cynthia Goodman and husband Wes Gaines of Ponca City, Jay Goodman and wife Michelle Fahs of Marland, and Amanda Goodman and husband Ricky Sandoval, of Marland one sister, Virginia Buffalohead of Ponca City her grandchildren, Juanita Buffalohead, Winnie and Chris Malaska, Yexenia and Romaine Orr, Adelina and Martha Ramirez, Martin, Vanessa, Alex, Virginia, Daniel and Heron Ramirez, Damian, Garry, Jay Jr. and Tyler Goodman, Manning, Marissa, Marlene and Marilyn Goodman 10 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren on the way many adopted nieces, nephews, and grandchildren she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents one brother, Ernie Blueback, sisters Juanita Blueback, Gracie Driggers and Marlene LeClair Marlar one foster brother, Frankie Roy.

Prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center. A noon meal will be served at the Cultural Center on Tuesday, July 9th. Funeral services will follow the meal at 2 p.m., also at the Cultural Center. Rev. Louis V. Headman will preside over the service. Burial will follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Ron Buffalohead, Dino Leon, Raymond Cerre, Richard Delano, Michael Delano and Robert Rosborough. Honorary casket bearers will be Wesley Gaines, James Muha, Donnie Hopkins, Ricardo Sandoval and her grandchildren.
