Elizabeth Waters Roy, 82, passed away on March 25, 2025, at her home in White Eagle, Oklahoma with family by her side. Liz was born to Benjamin Waters Sr and Christine CallsHim Waters in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Liz grew up in Ponca City under the care of her grandmother, Martha Cries for Ribs, until she was about 6 years old. She spent her young tender years on the banks of the Salt Forks River. Although she grew up in a tent by the riverside, the life lessons she learned stayed with her and she passed them on to her children and grandchildren.
She was a woman of unwavering faith, she lived to share the word of God, and her love for Christ shined through in everything she did. She taught her family and friends not only to believe but to trust in His plan, to love without condition, and to always find strength in prayer. Her faith never wavered, and that same faith is what comforts us now, knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven.
She found so much joy in the simple things, spending time with her grandchildren, long phone calls filled with laughter and wisdom, and watching her favorite shows. No matter what she was doing, she always made you feel loved, heard, and important. Her presence was a gift, her voice a source of comfort, and her love, something we will carry with us for the rest of our life.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Thomas Roy, children; Delicia Chavez, Deanna Castillo, Michelle Kimble, and Mark Buffalohead, along with her bonus children; Victor Elias BigBear and Wyatt Earp BigBear, sisters; Deana Rhodd, Deloris Decorah, and Mary Waters Primeaux, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews, aunts and uncles. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Diane Johnson, and son Jay Isham.
Following the traditional noon feast, a funeral service will be held at the Ponca Cultural Center in Ponca City, OK on March 28, 2025, 2 p.m., with Pastor Jim White, and Pastor Sharon Taptoe officiating. The Pallbearers will be Ira Primeaux, Trey Howe, Bobby Joe Rhodd, Douglas Eagle, Jr., Zach LittleSun, Marcus Buffalohead, Baptiste Roy, and Zacheus Brownell. Honorary Pallbearers are Craig Primeaux, Michael Decorah, Kevin Decorah, Joshua Brownell, Jose Castillo, and Nick Rhodd. Burial will follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery.
