Eli Warrior Sr., Oklahoma City resident, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home. He was 72.
Eli was born on April 13, 1938 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Fritz Preston Warrior and Lucy Pappan. Eli grew up in the White Eagle area and was a member of the Baptist Church. He served overseas in the United States Army. He moved to Oklahoma City in 1968, married Amelia Smith and made Oklahoma City his permanent home. He retired from Lucent Technologies where he worked for 32 years. Eli was a long time Ponca Singer and loved his heritage. He traveled all over the U.S. and participated in powwows everywhere.
He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Rios and husband, Adrian three granddaughters, Breanna, Lexi and Meya of Oklahoma and two sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents wife brothers and sisters.
Casket bearers for the service will be Adrian Rios, Santos Serrato, Aaron Gonzalez, Daniel Sherron, Preston Warrior and Jess Roach. Honorary bearers will be Lewis O. Doles, Jim Sherron, Chris Packhorse and Wayne Warrior.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with Brother Jimmy White officiating. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
