Earl L Williams, age 73, went to meet our heavenly father July 7, 2020, in Oklahoma City surrounded by family.
Earl is survived by his five children: Angela Casey, Ronny and his wife Donna Butler, Scott Butler, Marvin Williams, Charles and his wife Crystal Williams; his brother Frank Williams and sisters Lynn Williams and Cheryl Williams; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was born in nearby Shidler, the son of Henrietta Williams. Soon after graduation from Tonkawa High School, Spc Williams was drafted into the United States Army where he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Campaign and Vietnam Service Medals. Although he rarely spoke of his service, he was proud of the time he spent overseas. Upon his return, he attended welding school in Dallas, TX and learned the craft that he perfected throughout his 40-year career. On August 7th, 1976, Earl married the love of his life, Martha. They fiercely loved one another until her passing in 2016. Earl desperately missed his bride and spoke of her often.
Earl was a fine man, a great husband and father. Earl was a proud member of the Kaw Nation and never missed the annual powwow. He was passionate about stockcar racing, as a young man many Saturday nights were spent at Cowtown Speedway, where #38 was chasing, many times capturing, that checked flag. After retiring from dirt track racing, Sunday afternoons were reserved for NASCAR. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family.
Wake will be held Thursday, July 10th followed by the Traditional Noon Feast, Friday the 11th at the Kaw Nation Powwow Grounds, and he will be interred in a family plot at Washunga Cemetery in Newkirk.
