Dorothy Louise May, resident of rural Covington, Oklahoma and former Ponca City resident, passed on May 6, 2009 in Oklahoma City. She was 87. Dorothy was born February 25, 1922 on the family home place near Covington. She was one of five children born to Walter Decker and Georgia Irene Triplett Decker. Her early education was received in the Covington area schools. She was married to Arthur May on July 22, 1939 in Garber, Oklahoma with the couple moving to Ponca City in 1954. Dorothy had been employed several years at the Pioneer Vo-Tech, retiring in 1986 at which time she moved back to the family farm near Covington. Her enjoyments were flowers, yard work, her cats and reading. She is survived by her two children, Vicki Teel and husband, Jerry, Guthrie, Oklahoma and Rick May and wife, Kalen, Greeley, Colorado; five grandchildren, Keith Moseley, Jennifer Moseley, Kelly May, Rick May and Zach May; six great grandchildren; two great great children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur, in January of 1973; two sons, Terry Neal May in 1967 and Thomas Nick May in 1995; one brother, Mike Decker; three sisters, Nancy Glidwell, Myrtle Trein and Leona Bowling. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Friends and family are invited to visit on the home place near Covington after the service.
