Doris Nix

December 6, 1929 — October 1, 2018

Doris Fay Nix, a kind and loving citizen of Ponca City, has joined her father in heaven. She was 88 years young. A memorial Service will be held at Woodlands Christian Church beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018. Senior Minister Truman Ferguson will officiate.
Fay was born to Johnie Leo Hendley and Mary Nobie Gill Hendley on December 6, 1929 in Lake Creek, Texas. She was raised with the joy and love of a large family. The family moved to Ponca City in 1939 where she attended Ponca City Schools. During high school, Fay served as homeroom vice president and was a member of the Penguin Club. Fay graduated from Po-Hi in 1948.
After graduating, Fay worked at Conoco here in town. She met the love of her life, Frost L. Nix and they were married on August 27, 1960. She worked for several years at the Ponca City Credit Union until becoming a mother in 1965. After her son was born, Fay chose to stay at home and nurture him, devoting her time and attention to her family. When Charles was in the 4th grade, Fay went back to work part-time at Parker Pest Control. That position quickly became full time as the company learned that they could not find anyone more devoted or selfless than Fay. She retired in 1991 and spent her later years spending time with Frost. The couple enjoyed camping and fishing out at farm ponds as well as dancing with a group of couples around the area. In 2006 a beloved grandson was born. Nelson was her pride and joy. Her legacy and zest for life will live on through him.
Fay was an inspiration to all who met her, spreading joy and happiness everywhere she went. She was always smiling and had a giving heart. She tirelessly volunteered at the Ponca City Medical Center working at the front desk for many years. She will be deeply missed by her co-workers at the hospital. Fay was recognized for her extensive volunteer work with a pin for accumulating 11,510 hours! There was nothing Fay liked better than an interesting conversation with an old or new friend. It was often said that there wasn't a stranger that Fay didn't know. She had a sweet quirk of calling everyone "Kid" instead of using their name. "Oh, Kid" she would say to anyone and everyone.
Fay loved the Lord. She enjoyed attending church services and there is no doubt in anyone's mind where she is today. She was very dedicated to volunteering at the Woodlands Christian Church.
Fay leaves behind to cherish her memory her Son Charles Nix of Ponca City, grandson Nelson Cypert of Drumright, brother Charles Hendley of Edmond, brother Harold Hendley of Winnsboro, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Fay will be reunited in heaven with her parents, husband Frost L. Nix, brothers Curtis, J.P, and Ray Hendley, and sisters Emaline Hallman, Oleta Willis Allen, Alma Craig, and June McCloud.
in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Woodlands Christian Church at 1400 E Hartford Ave, Ponca City , Oklahoma 74604.
