Doris Christine Carlisle, longtime resident of Grainola, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Fairfax Hospital. She was 74 years of age.

Christine was born June 16, 1937 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Herman Anderson and Ida Mills Anderson. She was a member of the Citizen Pottawatomi Nation. She moved with her family to Denoya at the age of six months, later moving to Webb City. She was a 1956 graduate of Shidler High School. She was married to William Bill Carlisle on May 27, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple then established their home in Grainola. In earlier years she was employed with a sewing factory in Pawhuska and then worked as a field clerk for the State Highway Department before retiring in 1995.

She was a longtime member of the Grainola Methodist Church. Her enjoyments included watching her grandchildren playing sports and any type of family time together. She also enjoyed her church activities and the Senior Citizens activities.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Carlisle of Webb City, Bill Carlisle and wife, Chris, of Shidler, and one daughter, Debbie Jackson of Grainola 11 grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Bill one granddaughter, Montana Carlisle one grandson, Kris Jackson 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Shidler High School Auditorium with Bill Long presiding. Interment will follow in the Maple City, Kansas Cemetery. There will be a lunch served at the Grainola Methodist Church following the burial. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City.

Casket bearers will be grandsons and nephews, Tom Anderson, Ken Anderson, Samuel Carlisle, Jon Straud Carlisle, Walter Jackson, Clifford Jackson, Dan Ruth and Jerry Ryan. Honorary casket bearers will be Shawn Jones and Rylie Stevens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shidler Fire Department, 301 North Cosden Ave., Shidler, Oklahoma 74652.
