Donald Claude Davis, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 72. Don was born August 21, 1936 in Ponca City, the son of Cole Thomas Davis and Sophie Cobb Davis. He was a 1954 graduate of Ponca City High School and in that same year he married Barbara Allard. Don had worked for the Halls Grocery, Ponca Cabinet and Fixture Company, and then worked 30 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now A.T. T. Don loved his children very much and participated in everything he could with them. He coached their little league baseball team and helped with their football team. He belonged to the Ponca City National Guard, 179th Infantry and had served on the Board of Directors of the Blackwell National Guard. He enjoyed bowling, taking care of his yard, and was an avid dominos player. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Ponca City Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; two sons, Gary Lee Davis of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Tracy Dearl Davis of Ponca City, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Cole Thomas Davis, Dr. Arville Dean Davis, Jackie Dearl Davis and Jimmie Mearl Davis. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Hope Chapel on the grounds of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Ponca City with Pastor Robert Foos of the Faith Hospice presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. A visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Grace Memorial Chapel.
