Dewey Cook, Sr.

Dewey Lynn Cook, SR., 79, passed away at his home on Friday, February 8, 2013. D.L., as he was known to many, was born on June 23rd, 1933 in Taylor, TX to Charles and Zona Goodwin Cook. D.L. and his wife Norita have lived in Ponca City for the past 5 years relocating here from Yerington, NV to be near family.
D.L. served in U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 through 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a true patriot and served his country proudly. Shortly after his discharge, D.L. met Norita Lunsford in Mount Pleasant, TX and they were wed on April 7, 1955 in Natchez, Mississippi having have celebrated 57 years together. D.L. drove semitrucks for 15 years before moving to work in the construction field. He retired from the construction industry where he traveled extensively operating heavy equipment domestically and overseas for many years. They attended Bible Baptist Church in Ponca City. D.L. became a master locksmith in his retirement years and enjoyed tinkering with locks and performing mechanical duties around the house and for family and friends. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
D.L. was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carol Jean Bracket.
D.L. is survived by his wifeNorita, 2 children Jean and Michael Musick of Lubbock, TX, Dewey and Julia Cook, JR of Ponca City, OK. 3 grandchildren Jacque and Marcus Daly of Lubbock, TX and Brendon Cook of Ponca City. 2 great grandchildren Elliott and Parker Daly of Lubbock, TX.
At his request, D.L. was cremated and will have no services, but instead wanted everyone that knew him to celebrate their life as he did.
