Dawn Marie Kemble Sloss, former resident of White Eagle, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas. She was 80 years of age.
Dawn was born December 19, 1929 at White Eagle, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Kemble and Mary Horsechief Kemble. She attended the White Eagle Schools. She was married to John Sloss in May of 1949 in Wichita, Kansas where the couple established their home. Mr. Sloss passed in January of 1992.
Dawn was a member of the Indian Methodist Church and her enjoyments included attending powwows, and the elders dinners in Wichita. She was on the board of the Hunter Health Clinic in Wichita.
She is survived by one son, Don J. Sloss and two daughters, Marianne Domebo and Sarah Harvey, all of Wichita one brother, Johnny L. Kemble, Midwest City, Oklahoma nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents husband one infant daughter and four brothers, Lancing, Sylvester, Edmond and Ellsworth Kemble.
Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Ponca Indian Cultural Center. A noon meal will be served on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Cultural Center followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Dal Domebo, Devin Domebo, Dain Domebo, Don Sloss, Dom Domebo and Anthony Harvey.
