David Neal Sherrod, 58, of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home.
David was born in Ponca City on January 3, 1957 to Emra Neal and Gail (Clemens) Sherrod. As David was growing up in Marland, he loved to ride horses. He got his first motorcycle at the age of 13 and was an excellent dirt bike rider. He loved building hot rods, loved rock and roll music, attended many concerts and taught himself to play the guitar. He was an avid reader and he was continually learning. He had a loving and caring heart and was always taking care of others.
David attended St. Mary's, Garfield, West Jr. High and was a member of Ponca City High School class of 1975. He enlisted in the US Navy after graduation. He and Velma Dee McClung were married on April 3, 1975 in California City, CA. To this marriage, two sons, Scott & Julian, were born who were his pride and joy. He attended DeVry University from 1976-1977. David was Episcopalian by faith. He was a salesman for photo chemicals in the semi conductor industry.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his 2 sons; Gregory Scott Sherrod and Julian David Sherrod both of Petaluma, CA, sister-Carolyn Rhodes of Ponca City and his companion of many years, Margaret Heller of Ponca City.
