Clarence John Hein, formerly of Burbank, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell. He was 87.
Clarence was born the son of Benjamin Martin Hein and Margaret May Mund Hein on October 20, 1922 in Grant County, East of Medford, Oklahoma. He grew up in Oklahoma and worked with his father on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army on January 19, 1943. He served his country proudly with the 317th Field Artillery, Battalion 81, Wildcat Division in the Pacific Area. He was honorably discharged from service on December 4, 1945. Clarence married Glenda Myrlene Awalt on June 2, 1951 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He attended auctioneering school and was an auctioneer. Clarence was also employed at Conoco he retired in 1985 as crane operator after 35 years.
Clarence enjoyed music, and in earlier years was fortunate to have played the drums with Bob Wills, his music idol. He and his wife, Glenda spent many years together, farming around the Kay County area. Above all, Clarence was a hard working family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a good provider for his family and always wished for more time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Myrlene Kay Stokesberry and husband, Philip of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Joseph John Hein and wife, Val of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Denis Lee Hein and wife, Nancy of Burbank, Oklahoma grandchildren, Scott Hisey, Michael Hein, Krystal Hein and Joe Wayne Hein great grandchildren, Ashley Hisey, Kylie Hein, Peyton Hein and Lucian Nelson sisters and brothers, Helen Buellesfeld of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Ben Hein and wife, Angela of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Freda Vetter of Ponca City, Oklahoma and husband, Edward Vetter of Blackwell and Melvin Hein and wife, Emelia of Edmond, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents wife, Glenda his Sweetie as he called her, and had missed terribly, since her passing last year and one sister, Rosemary Sears.
Casket bearers for the service will be Mike Hein, Scott Hisey, Krystal Hein, Joseph Hein, Rick Buellesfeld and Clifford Buellesfeld.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Dr. Rev. Chester Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
