Caroline LeClair Tapp, 70, of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Ponca City Regional Hospital. Caroline was born on March 5, 1941 in Pawnee, OK to Hugh and Rosa Blueback LeClair. She was a descendent of the Yellowberry Clan of Ponca Nation.
Caroline lived her life around Ponca City and was a nurses aide. She married James R. Tapp on Dec. 24, 1957 and to this union 6 children were born David Tapp of Ponca City, Mark Tapp of Ponca City, Lisa Lawson of Ponca City, Rhonda Ford of Ponca City, Pauline Hall of Burbank, OK and Ron Tapp of Ponca City. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren, numerous other family and friends and her companion of many years John Wilson.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, brothers sisters Zoie Brown, Edward LeClair, Sylvia Iron, Pascal LeClair, Mamie Tapp, Charlotte McMillan, David LeClair, Marilyn Biggs and Marlene Marlar.
Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday at Grace Memorial Chapel, wake services will be 6 pm Wednesday at Ponca Indian Methodist Church, traditional dinner will be Noon Thursday with funeral services at 2 pm at Ponca Indian Methodist Church with Pastor Jim White officiating, burial to follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Ryan Nichols, Blake Lawson, Brandon Tapp, Aiden Tapp, Van Ford, James Lawson, Jr., Honorary Casket Bearers will be David Tapp, Ron Tapp, Daniel Page, Mark Tapp, Nathaniel Page, Jr., J.R. Brown, Acy Brown, Max McMillan, Buddy Brown, Jarrod Brown and Floyd Iron.
