Carol Marie Harris, lifelong resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at her home. She was 72 years of age.
Carol was born July 18, 1939 in Ponca City, the daughter of Delbert Lee Jones and Mildred Marie Harris Jones. She was a 1958 graduate of Ponca City High School. She was married to Eugene L. Harris on October 19, 1959 in Ponca City. Her past employments had included Conoco and administrative assistant at Edwin Fair.
Carol was an active member of Northeast Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Ponca Playhouse where she most recently played a leading role in the play Doubt. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, the Ponca Playhouse, snow skiing, playing bridge with her friends, walking and watching Dancing with the Stars and NCIS.
She is survived by her three children, Debra Puckett and husband, Chris, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Paul Harris and wife, Carla, of Jenks, Oklahoma and Scott Harris and wife, Robin, of Edmond six grandchildren, Layne Sargent and husband Jarad, Alex Scovill, Joshua and Nikki Harris, Claire and Trace Harris two great grandchildren, Aiden and Ben Sargent one sister, Donna McGinty one aunt, Maxcine Peckenpaugh one sisterinlaw, Shirley Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Eugene, on August 2, 1997 one sister, Tressia Lusby and one infant brother, Elton Lee Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at Northeast Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Nigh presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Honorary casket bearers are Josh Harris, Jared McGinty, Jarad Sargent, Alex Scovill, Isaac Lusby, Kevin McGinty, Kevin Jones and Trace Harris.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Research, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104 or to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 North Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
The family will receive friends at Grace Memorial Chapel from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012 and also from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the family home.
