Cameron Kamoo Page, resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. Anthonys Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 57. Cameron was born the son of Virgil Page and Nellie Bonnie Kent McElroy on January 30, 1951 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma and graduated from Concho Indian School. Cameron moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2001. He met Carol J. Chavez in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1974, and in the summer of 1976, the couple married in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Cameron enjoyed Indian dancing and was a lifelong Champion Straight Dancer and he was also a member of Ponca Gourd Dance Society. Cameron loved OU football and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends, but he especially loved watching his grandchildren dance. He was always happy, friendly, outgoing and quick to make everyone smile with his kindhearted spirit. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Melinda Page and Lawanda Buffalohead; son, Chief Willey; grandchildren, Marissa Buffalohead, Maranda Buffalohead and Isaiah Buffalohead; sisters, Dawn Buffalohead, Janie Kent Lynch and Nellie Roughface; uncle, Garland Kent, Sr. and his wife Lucy; aunts, Mollie Walking Sky and Marion Cerre. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Vincent Page. Casket bearers for the service will be Mark Buffalohead, Isaiah Buffalohead, Anthony Primeaux, Thomas Kent, Nathanial Page Jr. and Harley Buffalohead. Honorary casket bearers will be Indian Brown, Robert Hill and Clarkson Littlecook. A traditional noon feast will be held before the funeral service. The family meals and feast will be prepared by Cynthia Vetter and family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center with Reverend Louis Headman, of Ponca Indian Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
