Buster Wayne Golay, longtime resident of Ponca City, sadly passed away on his birthday, Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Wichita, Kansas. He was 74 years of day.
Buster was born December 2, 1938 in Ponca City, the son of Charles Barton Golay and Minnie Mae Brown Golay. He attended school through the 10th grade at Orlando, Oklahoma, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1958.
He was married to Bonnie Lott on March 6, 1959 in Newkirk. He then began employment with Mistletoe Express until 1982 when he began working in the oil field. He later worked at Hughes Lumber Co. prior to his retirement in 1996. His enjoyments included fishing, hunting, riding around and site seeing, mushroom hunting and storytelling.
He is survived by wife, Bonnie, of the home his 2 daughters, Brenda Kay Golay and Rhonda Golay, both of Ponca City one sister, Mary Sue Roberts and husband, Clyde W., of Perry, Oklahoma one brother, John Irvin Golay and wife, Mildred, of Newkirk 6 grandchildren, Justin, Jose, Paula, Marcus, Kayla and Shanell 9 great grandchildren, Sabrina, Kelsi, Veronica, Jacob, Antonio, Justin Jr., Alivia, Mariah and Leland with 2 other great grandchildren on the way and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents one son, Roger Dale Golay in 2002 four brothers, Charles Barton Golay Jr., Bobbie Leroy Golay, Joe Golay and Jimmy Golay one sister, Roberta Backus one grandchild, Jerry Dale Golay.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Jack Adams Jr. presiding.
