Bill D. Bell, 91, of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Bill was born on June 15, 1922 in Altoona, Kansas to Hiram and Ruby Sims Bell. He moved with his family to Ponca City when he was 3 years old. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1940 and attended Northern Oklahoma College for two years. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He and Wanda Hendrick were married on July 18, 1942 in Baton Rouge, LA. They had one son and three daughters. Bill was parts manager at Hastings Motors for 30 years and later worked for Auto Electric. He was Adjutant of the D.A.V., a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.
His greatest joys were his grandchildren and family.
Bill is survived by his wifeWanda, son Richard Bell and his wife Cindy of Ponca City, three daughters Kris Mansfield and her husband John of Tulsa, OK, Beth Grover and her husband Robert of Fulshear, TX and Suzanne Timmons of Yukon, OK. SisterKaren Merritt and her husband Gene of Spring Hill, FL, brotherDon Bell and his wife Letty of Flower Mound, TX. He was also PAPA to 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Hope Chapel of I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Mr. Eugene Farrar of the Newkirk Church of Christ officiating.
