Betty Lou Trayler Ward, former resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Allen, Texas. She was 84 years of age.
Betty was born April 5, 1927 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Ethridge Trayler and Marjorie Ewing Trayler. She was a 1944 graduate of Ponca City High School. She was married to William A. Dub Ward on October 12, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas with the couple making their first home in Ponca City. The couple lived in Tulsa from 1952 until 1981. They then lived in Ridgeway, Colorado from 1981 to 1987 before returning to Ponca City. Betty was a member of the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ. Her enjoyments were taking care of her family and gardening.
She is survived by her two children, Linda Smith of Lucas, Texas and Chris Ward of The Colony, Texas one sister, Norma Johns of Virginia five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Dub Ward on May 2, 1998 one daughterinlaw, Eva Ward two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ with Don Huddleston presiding. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
