Betty Walker

Betty Jo Walker, resident of Ponca City passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. Betty was born the daughter of James Dennis Wright and Fannie Audrey Roby Wright in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She grew up in Ponca City and attended Ponca City High School. Betty operated the Community Building elevator for over 14 years and was then employed with Wichita State University for 25 years. She later worked at the First Baptist Church Nursery for over 14 years as well. She married Edward Walker in 1943 in Perry, Oklahoma and to this union, two children were born. Betty enjoyed collecting dolls, reading and shopping, but her first love was dogs. She also liked to travel throughout the United States and Canada. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Hill of Ponca City, Oklahoma; sister, Audrey Rogers of Newkirk, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, George Edward Walker; sisters, Erma Dean Morris, Ina Ficila and Dorothy Jean Fergueson; half sisters, Nettie Megson and Zetta Mae Gist.
