Betty Ann Carson, resident of Ponca City, passed Sunday morning, November 1, 2009 at the Shawn Manor Nursing Center. She was 69 years of age. Betty was born August 23, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William Smith and Marjorie Karr Smith. She moved with her family to California at an early age and graduated from high school in Los Angeles in 1958. She then attended Junior College majoring in Art. She had lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston. She was married to Phillip Carson on May 24, 1995 in an Assembly of God Church in Houston, Texas. The couple moved to Ponca City in 1996. Betty was an ordained minister and enjoyed sharing the gospel with the people she would meet, painting art, teaching art and selling art. She also enjoyed her time working for florist shops. She is survived by her husband, Phillip; five children, Dayle Decker of Denver, Colorado, Devin Decker of Florida, Daymon Decker of Jourdanton, Texas, Dena Yount of Tomball, Texas and Dana Rowe, near Austin, Texas; one sister, Barbara Banner of Denver; numerous grandchildren and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Darren Decker. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Don Stanton, pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Church presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
