Arthur William Speir, 73, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away on July 25, 2024, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was born on October 31st, 1950, in Fresno, California, to Charles and Mary (Kelly) Speir.
A proud veteran, Arthur served in the Army during the Vietnam War with the 6th US Army. His valiant service earned him several prestigious medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. He was also recognized as an Expert in Rifles.
Arthur could be described as a jack-of-all-trades and did whatever he could to make an honest dollar - from having his license in HVAC to owning an appliance store. Outside of work and military service, Arthur had a compassionate soul and always lent a helping hand to those in need. He often volunteered at local clothing bins. When he wasn't working, Arthur found relaxation by fishing whenever he could. He was also a fan of eagles and enjoyed everything about motorcycles.
One of Arthur's proudest accomplishments was being baptized by Pastor Jack at his church in June. His faith was central to his identity and guided him throughout his life. He made sure to attend church every Sunday at the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church and loved his church family very much.
However, above all else, Arthur cherished his family. He shared a deep and unwavering love with his wife Jolette. They were married in 1991, and their bond remained as strong as ever throughout the years. Their love was so evident that they were often mistaken for newlyweds. The couple would frequently renew their vows as a testament to their enduring commitment to each other. Their most recent renewal took place on their 25th wedding anniversary. Arthur and Jolette were truly inseparable; one could not be seen without the other.
Those left behind to cherish Arthur’s memory are his beloved wife, Jolette; his sons: AJ Speir, Charles Minh Speir, and Andrew Speir; daughters Rose Muniz and Tammy Linker; grandsons: Son Nguyen and Hieu Nguyen. As well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, 2 p.m., at the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Ponca City, with Pastor Jack Adams officiating.
