Angela Helena Hein, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 85 years of age.
Angela was born July 3, 1927 in Whittemore, Iowa, the daughter of Michael J. Thul and Clara Dahlhauser Thul. She moved to the Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1945 where she was employed as a telephone operator. It was at this time that she met Benjamin R. Hein. The couple was married on October 20, 1947 in Whittemore, Iowa. The couple operated a farm for several years between Ponca City and Blackwell where Angela was involved in all aspects of farming alongside her husband.
Angela was an accomplished seamstress and had made most of the clothes for her children throughout their early years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, word games, crossword puzzles and reading the Readers Digest. She especially enjoyed doing things together with her husband Ben. She was a onetime active member of the St. Marys Catholic Church and Altar Society. She and her husband were also members of the local V.F.W.
She is survived by her husband Ben seven children, Margaret Marge Johnston and husband Dwight, of Stillwater, Joyce Montgomery and husband Dennis, of Stillwater, William Bill Hein and wife Cil, of Oklahoma City, Mary Klufa and husband Frank, of Pilot Point, Texas, Teresa Smith and husband Eric, of Allen Texas, Matt Hein and wife Kathy, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Kirk Hein of Dallas, Texas one sister, Darlene Devine of Algona, Iowa one brother, John Thul of Phoenix, Arizona one sisterinlaw, Barbara Thul, of Glendale, Arizona 22 grandchildren 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Clara Thul one son, Mark R, Hein one grandson, Greg Montgomery one sister, Mary Ellen Thul and three brothers, Bill, Ed, and Jim Thul.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father John Aram serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Benjamin Smith, Kyle Klufa, John Klufa, Matt Klufa, Blake Hein and Doug Johnston.
