Alice Simpson

Alice Cora Simpson, resident of Shidler, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at St. Marys Regional Medical Center in Enid. She was 78. Alice was born on June 3, 1931 in Shidler, Oklahoma to Alice Cora Simpson Orutt. She grew up in Shidler and moved briefly to Washington and in her late 20s she returned to Shidler where she enjoyed raising her son, Merle Lee Simpson. Alice loved taking care of her animals. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and helping her family. She was a kind person who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her great nieces and nephew, Jennifer Withey, Thomas Withey and Pam West; great great nieces and nephews, Tommy, Jesse, Stephanie and David; one great great great niece, Kylee Combs; as well as other distant relatives. She is preceded in death by her son, Merle Lee Simpson, 2003; mother; brothers and sisters. Casket bearers will be Thomas Withey, Lamar West, Tommy Combs, James Withey and Renee Fortney. The honorary casket bearer will be Jesse Withey. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Longwood Cemetery with Reverend Wilford Wisel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
