Alice Lightfoot

Alice Louise Lightfoot, 83, of Ponca City, Oklahoma died at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her home following a long illness.

Alice was born January 16, 1928 at Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jesse M. and Rose E. Young Hooten. On December 1, 1945 she married Joseph B. Lightfoot in Crosby County, Texas. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Alice was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City and was very active in Presbyterian Women and BSF. She was also highly involved in Ponca City Mothers Club and Sigma Phi Gamma. Alice was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph B. Lightfoot of the home one daughter, Shalah Smith and her husband Ron of Burke, Virginia one granddaughter, Kecia Lansbury and her husband Steve and their children Zoe, Ben, and Emma Grace Burke, VA one sister, Nona Click of Oklahoma City, OK many nieces and nephews, of which one niece and her husband, Theresa and Hurley Bohon of Ponca City were her and Josephs devoted caregivers.

Alice was preceded in death by five sisters, Amanda Parrish, Frances Hall, LaVanda McKinney, Ervie Lee Hooten and Geraldine Walls and two brothers, Andrew Hooten and Floyd Hooten.

The family will receive friends at Grace Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening, March 16, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

There will be a graveside committal service at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. that evening at First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City with Rev. Mary E. Wright officiating.
