Judy Swain, 59, beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Grandmother was called to her eternal resting place on November 30, 2021. She entered this world on August 29, 1962, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, born to Melvin D. Boyd and Patricia A. Boyd (Hempfling).
Judy grew up in Ponca City and attended the Ponca City school system graduating in 1980 and continuing her education and obtaining her associate degree from NOC and The University Center. She has been a teacher’s assistant for over 24 years of service to the Ponca City School system at Garfield Elementary, where she shared her love for reading with many students. She married the love of her life Dirk Swain on May 2, 1981, and they made their home in Ponca City. Judy enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with her family but most of all, spoiling her grandson Grady. She was also looking forward to spoiling another Grandbaby this December. Judy was also a member of St Mary's Catholic Church.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are; her husband Dirk Swain of the home, grandson: Grady Swain, Two Sons: Josh Swain and wife Brittney and Patrick Swain and Morgan Cremers all of Ponca City, OK Mother: Pat Boyd of Ponca City, OK, Two brothers: Scott Boyd and wife Wendy of Stillwater, OK, Brent Boyd and wife Lori of Ponca City, OK One sister; Susan Kothe and husband Sid of Ponca City, OK. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Judy was preceded in death by her dad in 2002 and one brother, Jody Boyd in 1968.
Pallbearers are members of the Ponca City Fire Department; Brad Allensworth, Chad Cunningham, Ron Cremers, Allan Fogle, Scott Klufa, Eddie Schultz, Andre Stoll, and Daniel Vap.
Honorary Pallbearers are; Josh, Patrick, and Grady Swain.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021, in the St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating, Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery of Ponca City, OK. Visitation will be Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Grace Memorial Chapel. The family will be in attendance to receive friends and relatives from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Garfield Elementary Reading Program. Please contact Brenda Storie with the Board of Education for arrangements.
